The perfect setting for Healing Spring Monastery was found at Verdelot, where an old convent from the 19th century awaits to be transformed into a retreat centre. The buildings are ready to house at least 20 monks permanently and to welcome 20 overnight guests. We expect with further renovating to increase the accommodation to 50 guests. The monastery has a living space with a beautiful spiritual atmosphere surrounded by 1.8 hectare of green hills with its own spring and two small rivers.
Healing Spring Monastery will be a refuge in nature, close to Paris and easily accessible from the capital by public transport (85 minutes from Paris – Gare de l’Est), making it a more comfortable destination for people travelling from Belgium, the United Kingdom, and many other countries.
At Healing Spring Monastery the monastics will organise days of mindfulness (welcoming more than a 100 retreatants) and also Weekend or Week retreats in English and French. The retreats will
be on a wide variety of topics for example, Family Retreats, Wake Up retreats for young people, Education Retreats and Health Retreats. Welcoming around 3,000 visitors yearly and spreading the seeds of mindfulness to young and old.
Our beloved teacher Thich Nhat Hanh said:
Everyone knows that peace has to begin with oneself, but not many people know how to do it. At Healing Spring Monastery we will have one more place to learn how to, supported by the monastics and everyone around us.
